Landscapes, gardens, river scenes and still-lifes all show the same sharp lines and details seen in David’s portraits.
Add imagination which distorts the image and we still see, with the same detail and precision, the suggestive side of paintings such as Suicide Bridge or Poles Apart. This is Atack’s mischievous side, both frivolous and serious at the same time.
David creates imaginative paintings which allow the viewer to imagine. Watch out for the imaginative still-life paintings! Is still-life really still, does the apple float, is the mandarin orange flattened, or is it the imaginative use of lighting which creates the illusion?
